BOTOX®, Jeuveau®, Juvederm™ family fillers, AmnioFix Pre and Post Care Instructions

  1. Your first appointment will be for discussing your aesthetic goals and options mostly so treatment may be scheduled separately.  Baseline photos may be taken of you for your file. If you prefer injection treatment the same day and all is appropriate to proceed, I can often accommodate that for Botox ® and or Jeuveau ® but other agents may require a separate appointment.
  2. CB Skin Secrets only uses FDA approved products although off label uses are common.  No substitutions are made for generics or illegal foreign agents.
  3. Prior to injection, please notify me if you have a rash or infection near or at the planned injection site or a history of issues with injections as we may need to rethink or reschedule your treatment.  Risk of allergic reaction, serious injury or problems are low but possible, all patients will vary in discomfort and results even compared to their own previous experiences.
  4. 5-7 days prior to treatment avoid blood thinning agents such as Aspirin, Motrin, Aleve, fish oil, Vitamin E, ginko biloba and 48hours for alcohol. Tylenol is OK to use. Please notify me if you are using prescription or non-prescription blood thinners.  Bruising is most common around the eyes and sides of the mouth.  I make every effort to avoid problematic bruising, but there are several small vessels in these areas. Bruising is usually minimal but may take around 1-2 weeks to resolve.  Please consider avoiding caffeine a few hours before the procedure for more comfort.  Arnica Montana topicals are available over the counter at most pharmacies to help resolve bruises, swelling and soreness.  You may also be able to get this in an ingested form on Amazon to start taking a few days before injections if you tend to bruise a lot.
  5. BOTOX® and Jeuveau® will start to take effect in about 5 days but may not be fully active until 2 weeks.  Fillers and AmnioFix will take 1-2weeks to “settle”.  Since everybody is different, your treatment is tailored specifically for you. I would like to see you back in 2 to 3 weeks for a quick check of your treatment outcome.  Any refinements to your dose will be done at that time without further charge for Botox ® and Jeuveau ® unless a new area of treatment is desired.  Fillers and AmnioFix refinement may be needed but cannot always be done without purchase of additional agent(s).  New collagen production takes 4-7weeks and may continue for months.  I encourage you to strive for and expect improvement rather than perfection but please be open with me so we can work towards best results and satisfaction.
  6. You should return in 2-5 weeks after BOTOX®, Jeuveau®,  Radiesse, Revanesse Versa or Juvederm™ family fillers and after 3-8weeks for AmnioFix.  Sometimes it can be difficult to match expectations with results, but I will try to accurately inform you of what to expect.  I appreciate your trust.  At your follow up visit we will also take your “After” photo.  This photo will Not be shared without your permission, but is key to demonstrating changes you may not see from day to day (SURPRISINGLY COMMON) so is still needed for your chart.
  7. Following your injection treatment, please do not wear a constricting garment over the area (hats, goggles).  Ice is ok for 5 minute intervals as needed for swelling after Botox®, Jeuveau®, Radiesse, Revanesse Versa or Juvederm™ family fillers.  Heat, cold or pressure to the treated area is avoided for 7 days after AmnioFix.  Swelling resolves within~4days typically.
  8. If you would like to reapply makeup, please do so gently over the treated area the following day.  Please avoid heavy exercise or sweating for the first 24 hours after treatment and also avoid any compression of the area. I HIGHLY recommend Colorescience products for ALL mineral spf protection and coverage and commonly apply these products immediately post treatment.
  9. There are several other treatments and products available which can be used concurrently with BOTOX®, Jeuveau®, Juvederm™ family or other fillers and AmnioFix.  If you have aesthetic goals that haven’t been met, ask me what other treatments may be right for you as the order of procedures may need adjusted.
  10. Allergan, the manufacturer of BOTOX®, reports average duration of results of 4 months.  Duration and effect with Jeuveau® was found to be nearly identical in a head to head study. Still, results may vary from patient to patient, at subsequent visits and by treatment site. Maintaining regular injection intervals helps optimize your aesthetic result and prevents returning to your original pre treatment condition.  After your 6th treatment, you will receive $150 towards any light or laser treatment with your next session!  Fillers may last 6mo – 2 years but some volume effects for each will diminish sooner.  A broad range is reported based on the area of treatment and can vary significantly even on the same patient.  AmnioFix results can last up to 1-2 years, shorten healing time and redness plus boost results.
